Honorary Chairs – Scott & KK West
Back in 2009, the American
Cancer Society wanted to improve its relationship with the citizens of
Fort Bend County. ACS had networking and fundraising events
that included a formal gala and a golf tournament, but ACS wanted
more. ACS wanted an event that raised the bar on both the
relationship and fundraising in Fort Bend County.
Under the leadership of chairs, KK
and Scott West, Couture for the Cause was born. Since 1992 KK and Scott have lived in
Sugar Land, where they have raised their family, established a prominent law
firm and served the community they love. The West family includes a daughter,
Tiffany Slataper and her husband, Matt Slataper, and their children Grayson and
Kennedy, a daughter, Maddi who is graduating UH Law School in May, and twin
boys, Garret and Gunner who are Juniors at TCU and UT, respectively.
KK and Scott West love and will
continue to serve this community, and are blessed to serve as Honorary Chairs
for the 2018 Couture for the Cause.
Honoree - Carolyn Williams
This year’s event, “Garden Glitz,” will celebrate and honor the life of longtime Johnson Development employee, Carolyn Williams. Carolyn lost her 13-year hard-fought battle with cancer on June 14, 2016. Johnson Development Co-President and COO Doug Goff says, “I have never seen a more courageous woman.
No matter how she felt, or that she had been at MD Anderson for eight hours the evening before...she was at work with a smile on her face. She worked for Johnson Development for over 10 years, first at Sienna Plantation in many different roles and then at the corporate office. When other people would have given up, Carolyn always asked what she could do for you.
It was never about her. We are all proud to have called Carolyn and her husband Allan friends.” In honor of Carolyn’s love for children, tonight’s mission ask is to support Pediatric Cancer Research.
For more than a 100 years, The American Cancer Society has been leading the fight to end cancer. With your support, we have helped usher in an era where more people survive cancer than ever before. By translating our research findings into action, we've seen a 20% decline in US cancer death rates since the early 1990s.
