I am honored to serve as the event Chair for the 2017 Brazos Cattle Baron’s Ball. This is my first year to be involved with this amazing community event, but as many of you, I am not a stranger to the fight against cancer. I have lost a grandfather and an uncle to lung cancer and have personally had a breast cancer scare last year. Cancer does not discriminate and is an equal opportunity offender to us all. I would dare say that everyone has known someone in their life affected by this disease.
The good news is, together we can fight cancer! The American Cancer Society has been leading this fight for over 100 years. Every dollar raised by Cattle Baron’s Ball and other American Cancer Society events aid the fight in not only research but in the mission of patient education and patient services with many local community members benefitting from your generous donations. I am so proud to be working with a great committee who all have a passion to serve and raise money for ACS and the families that it reaches, as well as being blessed to live in a community that supports and takes care of each other.
So, just as the rugged and resilient cowboys in the rodeo arena, let’s saddle up and together we can buck off cancer!
For more than a 100 years, The American Cancer Society has been leading the fight to end cancer. With your support, we have helped usher in an era where more people survive cancer than ever before. By translating our research findings into action, we've seen a 20% decline in US cancer death rates since the early 1990s.
